Building Successful Partnerships (BSP) is a copyrighted program by the National PTA that has trained facilitators teach others how to implement the National Standards for Parent/Family Involvement Programs. This, in turn, will create effective parent involvement policies and action plans for improving programs.
Participants will be able to examine their current parent involvement practices, evaluate them and formulate new strategies for building an effective parent involvement program. In other words the idea is that more and more people, families, parents, teachers, administrators, policy makers and interested community members will be able to understand the importance of parent involvement so that students will be the big winners in all areas of their lives.
BSP uses research data.
BSP explores definitions and examples of positive parent/family involvement in the school setting, in the community setting, and in the home setting.
BSP shares best practice ideas to help their children succeed in school and in life.
BSP can be tailored to the needs of your community.
BSP uses the standards of:
- communication
- parenting
- student learning
- volunteering
- school decision making and advocacy
- collaborating with community
The goals of BSP are:
- To promote meaningful parent and family participation.
- To raise awareness regarding the components of effective programs.
- To provide guidelines for schools that wish to improve their programs.
An easy definition of BSP: An organized but individualized way to help all interested parties better understand what parents can do to help their children succeed.
